Meeting with me

I’m committed to being accessible to all constituents in Chipping Barnet and welcome the opportunity to discuss matters that concern you. 

I hold regular street stalls across Chipping Barnet and host Tea with Tomlinson events where you can speak with me directly about local and national issues, although individual casework is best dealt with privately in surgery meetings with me or my team. 

I hold surgery appointments regularly; these are meetings between me and you, and a member of my staff.  

On the advice of the police, these surgeries are not advertised in advance as drop-ins. Two MPs have tragically been murdered at their surgeries since 2016, and I must take the security of my staff and myself seriously. I wish we could do widely advertised drop-ins, but it just isn’t possible given this risk. 

Not all issues are best dealt with via a surgery appointment; my team and I can often best sort something by picking it up and taking action over email. 

I also make additional appointments available with my caseworkers, who are specialists in a range of topics and highly skilled in supporting constituents with a wide variety of issues. 
Depending on availability, you may be offered a meeting with me or with one of my caseworkers. I very much trust their judgement and the support they provide — I oversee all casework and am kept informed of the action taken with each constituent. 

If you are offered a meeting with a caseworker, but instead wish to meet with me then do let me know and we will book you in. The wait times to meet me are slightly longer, but we will make space for everyone who requests a meeting. 

Please be aware that you will be required to share the issue and any relevant information with my Caseworkers before a surgery appointment can be offered. 

If you prefer not to attend an in-person appointment, we can talk over the phone or online using Teams.
