Job Title: (Senior) Caseworker
Working For: Dan Tomlinson (MP for Chipping Barnet)
Location: Chipping Barnet
Salary: £33,000
Hours: Full-time (we would also consider a candidate working 4 days a week at 80% salary)

We would also consider exceptional candidates with experience of team leadership for a Senior Caseworker role, involving additional responsibilities (see below) and a salary of £39,000-42,000

Job Details
This is a great opportunity to be part of the team working for Dan Tomlinson MP in Chipping Barnet. Caseworkers are often the first point of contact for constituents who need help from their MP – you need to be prepared to listen to people from a wide range of backgrounds, understand their concerns and needs, and find ways to support them. The Caseworker will provide support to Dan’s constituents on a range of issues, including housing, welfare and immigration and will manage a large caseload to help to resolve problems through communication with government agencies, local authorities, the voluntary sector and other organisations.
The holder of this role will also support responses to policy queries on a broad range of topics. This will involve logging and categorising new emails, researching the government’s work on policy issues across many departments, and helping to draft responses based on that research.

Key Responsibilities
- Take initial action on queries from members of the public, including responding on behalf of the MP as appropriate.
- Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially, and accurately in accordance with the MP.
- Assist with surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.
- Liaise with government agencies, voluntary sector, and others to resolve constituency matters.
- Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases.
- Develop knowledge in specialist areas.
- Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and identify wider issues.
- Respond to policy casework on a range of issues.
- Oversee the team’s casework process and manage other caseworkers (Senior Caseworker only)
- Look for opportunities to create wider change locally and lead new initiatives (Senior Caseworker only)

Desirable:
- Previous experience of doing casework
- Understanding of the Chipping Barnet area
- Interest in thinking creatively about structural change in the local area (Senior Caseworker only)
Interview & Start Dates
First round interviews will take place online from the 11th-13th of February, with in-person interviews on the 19th of February, and final conversations towards the end of the month.
