CB:CAN brings residents together to decrease the distance between people and politics, and spur local projects

On Thursday 5 March 2026, at an event in Christ Church Barnet, Dan Tomlinson MP launched the Chipping Barnet Community Action Network (CB:CAN)

Over 200 people attended the evening of discussion and workshops – all aimed at shaping the network and showcasing projects proposed by local residents.

Dan Tomlinson MP said: “It was a fantastic evening of sharing ideas about how we can work together to improve the area we call home.

“We’re inviting everyone in our corner of London to join us in making Chipping Barnet an even better place to live. To find out more and sign up, visit dantomlinson.org.uk/CBCAN.”

CB:CAN is not party political and is free for anyone to join. The focus of the network is making tangible differences to the local area through local action, whether that’s litter picking, or organising a community festival.

Members of CB:CAN are already signing up to support longer-term projects, such as East Barnet Festival and Community Energy Barnet, as well as proposing their own ideas.

CB:CAN has a clear agenda for the next year, built around four key goals:

  1. Thriving Nature
  2. Buzzing High Streets
  3. Happy Childhoods
  4. United Communities

Going forwards, CB:CAN will run a monthly “Community Action Day” in a different area around Barnet, whether restoring community buildings, looking after green spaces or running community fun days, centred around the four goals.

You can register here to stay in the loop and get invited to future events.
