If you are contacting us about a serious mental health or physical health issue, please be aware that my team are not trained health or social care professionals. We would encourage you to contact the following agencies who are best placed to support you:
- If you are in crisis or in immediate danger, please call 999 or visit A&E.
- Please speak with your GP and/or your psychiatrist.
- People living in Barnet experiencing a mental health crisis can call the 24-hour Crisis Telephone Service: 080 0151 0023. The Crisis Telephone Service are a team of trained mental health advisors and clinicians who provide help or advice in a crisis, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
- You can also contact NHS 111 by dialling 111 and select option 2 if you need urgent help.
Below is a list of helplines that you can contact for mental health support.
Mind support line
Call Mind’s support line on 0300 102 1234. This is a safe space for you to talk about your mental health. Advisors are trained to listen to you and help you find specialist support if you need it. Lines are open 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday (except bank holidays).
Samaritans
You can contact Samaritans 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on 116 123 (free from any phone). You can also email jo@samaritans.org (email responses may take several days). Samaritans is there for anyone who wants to talk.
SANE line
If you’re experiencing a mental health problem or supporting someone else, you can call SANEline on 0300 304 7000 (4.30pm–10pm every day).
National Suicide Prevention Helpline UK
Offers a supportive listening service to anyone with thoughts of suicide. You can call the National Suicide Prevention Helpline UK on 0800 689 5652 (6pm to midnight every day).
Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM)
You can call the CALM on 0800 58 58 58 (5pm–midnight every day) if you’re affected by suicide or suicidal thoughts. Or if you prefer not to speak on the phone, you can use the CALM webchat service.
Shout
If you would prefer not to talk but want some mental health support, you can text SHOUT to 85258. Shout offers a confidential 24/7 text service providing support if you are in crisis and need immediate help.
Papyrus HOPELINEUK
If you’re under 35 and struggling with suicidal feelings or concerned about a young person who might be struggling, you can call Papyrus HOPELINEUK on 0800 068 4141 (24 hours, 7 days a week), email pat@papyrus-uk.org or text 07786 209 697.
Childline
A free confidential service for young people under 19 years old where you can talk about anything by calling 0800 1111.
YoungMinds Parents Helpline
YoungMinds supports parents and carers who are concerned about their child or young person’s mental health. Call the Parents Helpline on 0808 802 5544 for detailed advice and information, emotional support and signposting.
